Europe-Japan Intellectual exchange session 2019 in Alsace


The Japan Foundation and Centre Européen d’Etudes Japonaises d’Alsace (CEEJA) has carried out a series of seminars since 2007, with an aim to encourage networking among young researchers on Japan in Europe and further promote Japanese studies in Europe.




Date: Monday, September 30th – Tuesday, October 1st, 2019

Venue: Centre Européen d’Etudes Japonaises d’Alsace  (Kientzheim, France)

Language: Japanese (no interpretation)

Deadline for applications: July 12 (Friday), 2019


Participants will join a two-day intensive workshop in the cozy and intimate atmosphere of CEEJA’s facility in Kientzheim where they will present and discuss their current research projects with fellow participants and guest mentors from Japan.

The theme of this year’s seminar will be "The theme of this year’s seminar is “Representations of Japanese Culture and Arts in Europe: from “Japonisme” to “Cool Japan."  (ヨーロッパにおける⽇本の⽂化・芸術のイメージ―「ジャポニスム」から「クールジャパン」へ)”.

We are calling for applications from young researchers in Europe specializing in Sociology, Gender Studies, Literature, History, Arts, Language, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, etc.
